Course Exercise: Attentional Cues:
When you are playing a round of golf, every golf player from every level has his attention on different things. Underneath you’ll find different options where to keep your attention on during a round.
Read the examples underneath, pick the one(s) you like and go out and practice it on the course and figure out what works for YOU!
Have fun
- verbal cues (e.g., “focus,” “ready,” “smooth,” etc.)
- visual focus cues (e.g., “looking at specific dimple or bottom third of ball, pin, tops of trees, etc.)
- physical cues (e.g., taking a deep breath, forward press, waggle, etc.)
- single cues versus cues in combination (e.g., take a deep breath, pulling up your shirt sleeve, while
- saying ‘let’s go, you have done this before.”)
- kinesthetic or feel cues (e.g, shoulders under, delayed release, elbow touching ribs in putting, etc.)
- auditory cues (e.g., not lifting your head on a putt untill you hear ball drop)
- Internal visual/kin. cues (e.g., mental rehearsal: top of swing, impact or follow-through)
